Latest Upgrades

Since I decided to keep The Mule out of nothing better to do during the winter of '04, I decided to freshen her up ...this ment pretty much dismantling down to the frame, forks and the block.
A thorough maintenance after 100K faithful miles...heck she deserved it...

Here's a list of what I did...

Replaced and Upgraded Parts
New Piston Rings

New Black Diamond valves and unleaded valve seats (Bruno's Machine & Repair)

Complete carb rebuild with Bing kits and SS screw kit
New NGK Plug wires and plugs
New brake, clutch, throttle cables
Swapped out S bars for US Standard bars
Handlebar Master cylinder relocation kit (MotoBins)
Later model clutch and brake levers (old style included)
Shift linkage upgrade kit
New spec Michelin Macadams
Replaced Speedometer with matching green numerals item (Old RS one went whack!)

General Maintenance
Complete lube & filter, crankcase, tranny, rear-end, swingarm, etc.
Clean and service K&N air filter
Grease tranny splines
Service/Clean and lube brake calipers
New SBS brake pads
Clean and inspect rear drum brake
Replace and re-wire any nasty old wiring and connectors.
New ground cable

Replaced rubber and gaskets

Pushrod tube seals
Head gaskets
Valve cover gaskets
Crankcase breather hose
Fuel lines/tank breather hose
Oil pan gasket
Oil pump gasket
Oil cooler gasket and seals
Misc frame and fairing rubber and grommets

Most anything that was rotted or grungy I replaced...

Repairs and Spiffing...
Dismantle and cleaning of the motor block, trans, and anywhere there was crud...
Polished carbs and general chrome polishing and paint waxing
Clean and paint battery box
Straighten, patch weld and paint centerstand
Frame touch-up.
Replace fasteners with new wherever they looked buggered, corroded, or otherwise freshen them up.

There are a few nit-picky quirks and things I'd like to do to it, but all in good time...

I want to thank all the crew at Boxerworks Forum and Bruno at Bruno's Machine & Repair in Canada and even Roger Albert of the Pelican R1100S Tech Forum for all their help and advice, right or wrong...

Now she's all pretty again...

Oh, and I forgot to mention...she RUNS GOOD!
